: Alterstart makes a high output 180A alternator that is a drop-in replacement for the CS120. This eliminates the need to modify mounting brackets needed for the larger CS144 alternator.
Assuming you have a 96-99, there is no need to modify any bracketry. The proper back bracket is available from the dealer for about six bucks. At that price, it isn't worth the effort to home brew something.
Some don't even bother with the back bracket, as the two mounting holes go all the way through the casting. So it is pretty solid anyway.
The only annoyance is that you'll need the little adapter cable ($15 from Wrangler NW and others) for the alternator 'turn on' connection. And the slightly longer serpentine belt.
Otherwise the CS-144 is a direct 'bolt in'.
