There are 2 grounding straps attached to the frame at the back of the engine compartment on the passenger side. 1 goes to the firewall. The other has become unattached (end broke off) - can't find a broken off connector that it belongs to. Where is that 2nd strap supposed to be attached? (It's about a foot and a half long.)
Don't know if it's related, but I was the one with fluctuating voltage gauge (posted a few days ago). Replaced both positive battery cables, and replaced battery, as the old one was leaking. No difference in performance. With everything on (lights, front and rear air) volt gauge still behaves like tach - goes up while driving, then falls back down at idle. If I turn everything off, volt gauge doesn't vary much with RPM's - stays around 13.5 even at idle. Any ideas on this problem?
Alternator is about 2 years old, from dealer, and has lifetime warranty. Will probably take to dealer tommorrow. But I would really like to know where that 2nd grounding strap attaches.
