Alternator Diodes

Can I R&R the diodes in my 01 YUK XL alternator, or do I need to replace the whole alternator? My lights flicker and it occasionally idles rough, and one morning a week ago it wouldn't start. I boosted it with my charger and w/in minutes it started with the rough idle behavior. If I blew the diodes, it was probably because I jumped another car from the YUK w/out turning it off first. Any help?
