Diodes dieing by shorting/opening and why the flickering. Not good for the battery and electricals.
Years ago looked into this. REALLY hard to find the right diodes, but once did, found that they were not cost effective. Only sold in volume, else cost prohibitive.
Hot link below and picture is of one brand that has external heat sink that I'm interested in. Haven't bought anything from them yet, but they have been posted here many times (good recommendations).
Picture is of a CS144 with mounting ears in 5/7 positions.
Take a look and if you buy one, post back how it went.
