Some rebuilders do great job, others...

While in college knew a guy who worked in one of the local alternator rebuilding shops. This one was fly by nite and reopened regularly after closing down.

Learned a lot from buddy. They didn't replace both bearins, only the pulley side...with el cheapie too.

Diodes were not all changed either. Just the opened or shorted ones.

This is where found that those diodes were not readily available and the ones this shop had, I'd not want in any of my rigs.

Why very important you know your auto supply shop, as they filter these suppliers. My regular shop supplies many local municipalities (police, fire, etc) and large number of mechanics, so have very good reputation. They just went through their warehouse and cleared out one brand because it started having problems. Told me to go to another shop till they figured it out.
