I was bored one day and decided I should at least tend the rubber boot connection at the battery terminal. I did not replace the entire cable, only cut off the rubber boots and bolted straight to the battery.
Results: WOW! I never imagined. I have two amplifiers in my 91 sub and when I came to stoplights and the engine was idling, I noticed small flickers in my headlights on the back of the car in front of me. Once I did this procedure, my lights are steady and bright, even when I turn up the stereo.
Also, on cold mornings, turning over the engine became more and more difficult (although it was also getting colder each morning too!) After doing the battery connector, the truck turns over much better, even in colder wheather (10-15 degrees).
I did use my existing bolt and just cut off the rubber boot.
I was so excited I went and did the same thing to my brother's 99' Tahoe. Definitely worth it!
