It sounds like your master cylinder is leaking. Unbolt it (no need to undo the brake lines) and look for signs of leakage on the rear piston.

Also, depending on the type of master cylinder reservoir you have, the master cylinder may be bypassing the rear brakes and pumping the fluid from one half of the reservoir to the other, causing it to overflow. This happens only with reservoirs that are divided front to rear. If it's low on one side but overflowing on the other, there's your problem. If there is no division it won't cause overflow, but could still be bypassing.

If you do eventually get your rear drums off and find the wheel cylinders have been leaking, go ahead and replace the shoes even though they look fine. The leaking brake fluid could cause them to deteriorate.
