Ah! That's the latest update I've been looking for. A couple of notes...
First: This TSB replaces the one that recommends greasing the shaft with the plug kit. The latest fix is to replace the intermediate shaft itself with an updated shaft. The grease kit has always been a temporary fix that needed to be repeated every 5k miles or so. The new shaft should be a permanent fix.
Second: This TSB applies to "Recirculating Ball-Type Steering". Not all steering assemblies are recirculating ball types. My 2002 1500 Silverado has Rack and Pinion steering, so I have to assume this TSB doesn't apply to me, even though it implies that my truck has recirculating ball steering and is covered.
At any rate, #1 Son might want to archive the TSB update and this thread for future reference.
