97 K1500 Sub left my wife stranded today. Wouldn't crank. She had it towed because I was a couple hours outta town. Anyway, I got home and looked at it, jump started and determined alternator is bad. (DMM on battery while running, plus volt gauge in dash pegged to left) Went to NAPA and got new alternator. Put it on, charged it up for awhile, and it started right up. DMM across battery reads 12.9 VDC at Idle, 13.0 at 2000 RPM. I was hoping for 13.5 to 14 at idle with no accessories on. What could be happening??? The internal guage has always seemed to read a little lower than it should, but always higher than 12.
