I had thought it was clever to wrap the exhaust after the manifolds to the Y using thermal (thermo-tec 2") insulating wrap. It did lower the underhood temps, and I figured that area was hot enough that corrosion would not be an issue.
Wrong !!!
It corroded the heck out of the pipes, either from salt water or just the heat. Pipes are 400 series stainless steel.
Looks like I caught it in time, but the surface is awful. Huge pipe assy, dealer only item. (or headers) $$$
