I posted this about a year ago, searched for that post, and didn't see any answers. As the season as changed, the question is relevant once agan.
After a long dry spell of no issues with the Sub, it seems the weather turning slightly chilly is bringing them out.
Last year - when it got cold - the "Service 4WD" light on my '99 GMC Suburban K2500 made several appearances.
If I shut off the truck and restarted it, sometimes it would go away and function normally, and sometimes not. The "service 4WD"light made two appearances again in the last week. I thought I remembered reading on here about the dash switch being known for having issues, so I bought another one and replaced it.
This morning, with the new switch, I got the same light again. I tried to research it some more on #1's site but came up empty. However, I know it's been discussed before.
What would be the next thing to look for or check out? I know I'm not the first person to wrestle with this one, and I have searched and found posts regarding this on the new '00+ Subs. However, I don't know if the parts are the same for my older-body '99.
Odds are good that the problem will appear again about the time I really need 4WD, and I'd like to avoid it.
Is there something else that might need replaced, like a bad switch or actuator or something under the vehicle?
Thanks again for any insight!
