Thought I would give you all a quick follow up. Got a transfer case from a junk yard just as a filler until the remanufactured TC showed up. Got under my truck and found a very large amount of fluid at the yoke seal. Hmmmm - I thought to myself.
Proceeded to pull off the filler plug - stuck my finger in - no fluid. Pulled the drain plug off - no fluid. Hmmm again. Had 4 quarts of Dexron III - and a new yoke seal - replaced the seal and refilled TC with fluid and took it for a test drive. Growl is gone, all seems to be good. Got to return the TC to the junk yard - haven't cancelled my order on the remanufactured TC yet though.
Was wondering, any feel for how much I may have shortened the life of my TC? Now that I have done it once, I am going to keep a very close eye on this. . .
