POS Battery - can someone outline the right steps to take care of it ?

Ok
I think I might have the problem or if not I want to prevent it. I went through Son # 1 page and it made me dizzy from all the posts there about the problem. Can someone write up a short version what to do, to do it right ? Do I have to swith to the top posts ? I know probably 30 % of the posts on this forum are about that, but lets get a "compressed" instructions.
