Current TTs use a 7 prong plug for connection. 1 is 'hot' and leads to the battery on the TT. If you wire it correctly, you can charge via this lead. I have a wire going back to the connection from the front, but have changed the regulator on the Sub to differentiate between the 2 batteries. That way I don't try to 'over-charge' a good Sub battery while fully charging a low TT battery. Regulators have been avaialable for this for many years. Problem is, my vehicle is an '85, w/o computer. I don't know about newer vehicles (but the regulators are advertized, so you can check it out). The regulator 'cuts off' the TT from the Sub system when the Sub is turned off. Diodes don't let the TT drain the Sub battery when parked.
Hope this helps, sorry for the late reply, job is hecktic.
