I disabled mine temporarily last time I had the dash apart. Disconnecting the battery isn't enough as it has it's own 36V capacitor-like power source. You disconnect the main battery as well as the connector from the dash to the bag, and wait for 10 minutes. The two wires running to the squib or whatever they call the trigger are susceptible to ESD, so ideally there would be a grounding connector to attach when this wire was dangling.
Will disable when I do the dash switches and if I ever change the steering wheel.
