There is a tool availale for about $10-15 that looks similar to a flat nose pair of pliers. one end presses against the vehicle, the other slides up and pushes the knuckle off the shaft with a reverse-pliers action. Check NAPA or an autobody supply store. Snppy and Mac tool trucks also have a double ended pry tool that slides under the knuckle and can be used to gently pry up...
Unless you are doing some major body work, I just gotta ask-why do you need to take them off?
