I was shopping for an MP3 player for my 93 suburban. The pipsqeak salesman speaks up and says he just traded in his Excursion for a Civic, and how much better a car it is that the big SUVs.
I asked him how his Civic handled loading up the family and towing the boat over the pass. He said he didn't have a boat, or a family.
I told him he shouldn't have bought the SUV in the first place, but that since I have a need for it, he shouldn't be in my face about it. Then walked out of the store w/o buying his MP3 player either.
If you need to carry lots of people in comfort, and/or 4wd and/or high towing capacity, then you need an SUV. Otherwise, decide if you want the status/stigma that goes with it.
