Rear A/C Hose Replacement

One of the hoses (still have to investigate if it's the inlet or return) running to the rear A/C has worn a hole in it and dumped all the refrigerant.

Has anyone ever replaced one of these hoses themselves? A solution to solve the wear-thru issue?

I will have a shop refill the refrigerant. What type of places usually have the best prices? Got a quote for $140 from Midas to refill with the "new" stuff.
