Well, after a week of checking batteries all over town, and buying and returning some, I have found out some info that may help someone else who wants to install a second battery in their Suburban. This info is for my 94 K1500, which I assume holds true for 92-99 Suburbans. The problem was to find a deep-discharge battery that fit in the second battery tray that is available thru the dealer. The Suburban tray is made to fit a series 78 battery. In deep-discharge (Marine/RV) batteries, the smallest one is a group 24, which is the same length and width as the group 78 regular battery. The problem is the height. They seem to fall into two ranges, around 9 inches high and around 9 1/2 inches high depending on the manufacturer.
The ones that do not fit:
Exide Nautilus
Pep Boys Brand (don't remember name)
Autozone Brand (don't remember name)
Penske (Kmart)
Sam's Club Brand (Stowaway)
The ones that fit:
Sears DieHard Marine
Wal-Mart Brand (Ever Start, I think)
Delco Voyager
I eventually bought and am going to use the Delco Voyager, which is available at KMart
Hope this info can help someone.
