Gas milage shouldn't be a major issue if you drive a Suburban

: Since gas prices are getting out of control I've been thinking of going to a smaller tire on my'91. I'm currently running 31's. I know that it takes more power to get a larger tire rolling. But am I also right it thinking that once the larger tire is rolling that it takes less power to keep it rolling. I know that the smaller tire will show more milage on the odometer. So what do you guys think?

My thoughts are to basicly leave the overall off road & towing performance as is, =B U T=, improve several areas that will improve overall drivability & gas milage.

Things like: K&N air filter, dual 3" stainless exhaust, maybe headers, additional in line overdrive, tune the beast (and maybe upgrade some of those components), flow match the injectors, and bone up on all of the technology in these.

I'm already using Mobil 1 in everything (tranny is hit or miss depending on how much time I have to load the flushing machine) and have a ram cold air system in place. Tires are already at 50PSI.

I do not a fella who regularly gets 16-17 mpg with a '94 K2500/454 but he's messed with all of the software. Also know a few who get 18-20mpg with a '96 K1500. Both saw a 3mpg improvement with a dual exhaust.
