I just had new pads put on my '98 C1500 (29,000 miles). I heard the wear indicators and immediately took it in. Got the Bendix Fleet pads and didn't have to turn the rotors (caught it just in time).
One thing my shop did do was adjust the rear brakes. Wow!! Wish I would have done this when it was new. The brakes are now borderline superb. Many who say that have soft, mushy pedals, front end dive or anti-lock issues may want to try this.....have had none of these since the adjustment.
Shop said this was called for in a TSB but didn't tell me the number.
