The abs ligt on my 95 sub came on and stayed on, so I took it to the dealer. I had made a list of squawks for them to fix, mostly minor stuff in addition to the abs system. One of the things was that I had noticed a drop in gas mileage (about 1 mpg) and power was down. I asked them to check the cat for blockage. A mecheni -... um... excuse me.... Service Technician was standing by the check in point at the service department and he quickly chimed in that that was rarely the case and it was probably something else. (Loss of compression and so on) I said that was fine if it was the cause but please check the cat.

The next day I got a call, the abs pump was being replaced (under extended warranty) and the cat was being replaced under manufacturers warranty. It seems the internal workings had collapsed and constricted the airflow.

The moral of the story is that without reading about clogged cats here, I never would have thought to look at that, and it sounds like the dealership wouldn't either.
