My "schedule" is oil consumption or plain time. Changed sweetie's oil/filter this weekend after replacing a rear speaker (19year borrowed and blew out speaker). Last change was 2000April, wasn't burning any oil, color was good, but that overhear cam's hydraulic rocker "clicks" when the oil starts to lose film strenght (it's a $1400.00 assembly), engine at 107Kmiles. Truck starts to burn oil at about 8000miles ("BUILT" 350 at 30Kmiles) total at +200K miles. Suburban burns oil at around 3K-4K-5K-7K miles depending on time of year and how I've been driving it. Winter can go +7K miles if I let it. Summer 3K miles like clock work. Engine/tranny temp is main factor in my mind.
All use Mobil 1 or Valvoline 5w-30w synthetic and PureOne filters.
Watch the prices. Noticed that PepBoys this weekend raised the Mobil1 synthetic gear oil to $8.99/quart. Will be checking out buying motor oil by the 15gallon and gear oil by the 5 gallon barrels soon if this price increases continues.
