The 1998 K1500 I recently purchased had a number of problems. One of them
was that the engine seemed noisey, sort of clattering. I got it's first oil change
since I bought it, and put in Mobil 1. The engine seems much quiter now.
Even my wife noticed. when making the list of things to have fixed, I asked
her, and she said she didn't hear the noise any more.
It had 55K when we got it. I'm wondering if the oil in there was too old or something.
Another problem I have is that I'm losing about a half gallon of coolant every 5 or 6
weeks. There is no sign of leaking anywhere. I suppose it could be leaking into the
engine, thinning out the oil, but I don't see any foaminess or anything.
