creaking noise coming from left front wheel/hub??

I have a 94 K2500 w 7.4L that has develop a metallic creaking noise coming from the left hub region. It only happens when I turn the wheel to the right, the further I turn it, the louder it gets. It reminds me of running a bicycle with something clicking in the spokes and it seems to sound like it comes from under the hub cap. I've taken the wheel of and do not see anything wrong. Any ideas anybody?
