I have a 1/2 ton '99 and mine has a Class III, 5000lbs dead weight, 10000lbs weight distributing. Do not exceed the vehicles towing capibilities(which my hitch could), no matter what hitch it has. There was a year of Suburban(not '99), I think around '93-'94, that were recalled for hitches being marked incorrectly. The sticker said one thing, but they were actually much lighter. They recalled them, and changed the stickers, they didn't replace the hitches.
: Apparently there used to be a sticker on the hitch on my '99 K2500 Sub (454, 3.73) but there isn't one anymore. In the near future I may need the capacity of a class IV htch but I don't know how to tell what rating the one I have is. The truck came with all the towing and plow options and when I looked at the hitch construction, it sure looks a lot beefier than some class III hitches I've seen. Any recommendations?
: Thanks,
