I know this subject has been beaten to death but I'm a new Suburban owner, '93 GMC C1500, and I'm looking to replace my tires.
2WD with a 350ci motor, all highway and pavement driving. Basically a big station wagon used to haul 5 grand kids and a big dog.
There is so much discussion concerning tire inflation pressure and max loading I'm confused.
My rig currently has Michelin P235/75/15 LTX M&S's load rated at 2028lbs and a max inflation pressure of 35 psi.
GVWR is 6800 lbs. GAWR front is 3400lbs and GAWR rear is 3968lbs.
My questions:
Don't these tires exceed the weight requirements for my Burb?
Am I correct in assuming that these tires NOT be inflated above 35 psi?
Also, I noticed on Michelin's web site that all the new Cross Terrain's are "P" series and only a few sizes have inflation pressures above 35psi.
What's the scoop?
