-------------------------------------------------------Please note that the TSB applies ONLY to 98-99 GM K1500 or K2500 trucks equipped with the NP246 automatic transfer case, which is NOT the standard TC. (If you don't have option NP8, the TSB does not apply to you.) The TSB is limited in its applicability, and is not intended as a cure-all for other transfer cases or driveline problems.
This TSB was posted here (with considerable difficulty and after coordination with several other frequent forum contributors) not to provoke controversy, but to help those to whom it applies. If this negative climate prevails, professional expertise to the forum will most likely be sharply curtailed.
