On this board (and others), whenever a cold-start noise is reported, I often see the recommedation to ensure that the filter being used has an anti-drainback valve.
Now on 350's (except 4wd) and 454's and the current 4.8/5.3/6.0 engines, the filter is upright and vertical. It is also usually below the oil level or close to it.
Why would you need (want) and anti-drainback valve on this application ?? is there siphoning action that can pull oil out of the filter ??
Thanks
