Hello all. I've got a 97 1500, with 105k Miles on it. I've had it a year, and haven't had any problems to speak of. Yesterday while up at about 5000 feet elevation, I turned down a road that eventually turned into a dead end. The road was pretty narrow, so I had to do a combination of forward/reverse stops to turn the suburban around. As soon as I got it turned around, the power steering completely stopped. I checked the fluid, and it is full. So, here are my questions: 1) Did I do something wrong by possibly over steering too far to one direction? 2) Since this is probably the steering pump, is this something that a semi-mechanic like me could replace, or is this a dealer job? (I can do simple jobs where all I have to do is replace Old part A with New part A, but if there is tweaking to do, I probably don't have the expertise to do it). 3) If I decide to do it, should it be a dealer part, or is there an OEM part of good enough quality that would do the job? 4) I was also wondering, is there a website
somewhere that would list any recalls that haven't been done to this unit yet? Well, that's all for now. Thanks in advance. -Mick-
