Our local BJ's Wholesale (like Sam's) is carrying R134 recharge kits that come with a pressure gauge, hose, and a can of R134/oil that can be added if you are low. This kit is $ 24.95. If I think mine is low, I'll try one of these since my mechanic says the proper service procedure is to evacuate the system with a freon recovery system and do a recharge. He says there is no way to know the proper amount of freon 134 to add otherwise. When the old freon is evacuated they measure it and give credit to the customer since it is recycled. Makes me wonder when your shop dumps the freon in the air what they could possibly be thinking...
