So what do you think of a 24 volt boost to a 12 volt system?
This past week I was out of town with the Sub and had problems when it wouldn't start. I had to get a tow truck and because of previous hard starts earlier in the day, I was beginning to suspect the starter. I was only getting a clicking noise when I would try to start the vehicle. The woman driving the tow truck asked if I wanted a boost or a tow. I thought the boost would be cheaper if it worked and so said go ahead. After several tries, the Sub started up. Then the woman said that she had to give me a 24 volt boost to get me going and that usually indicated a starter problem. Anyhow, I didn't know she was going to give me a 24 volt boost and her comment was that it was for such a short time during the starting cycle that nothing should be hurt by it, but .... what do you think? I am now paranoid about electrical problems with my vehicle. Today I put 250 kilometres on my vehicle and was watching the voltage needle waver around and I don't remember it being that way before. So am I paranoid or not?
