Just got done with a 3,000 mile oil/filter change (Castrol Syntec 5w30 & AC filter)and I keep wondering, is this overkill? Buddy of mine uses Amsoil and Amsoil filters in a '90 Cadillac, changes the filter only and tops off the oil every 25,000 miles. If synthetics don't break down and they continue to work if kept clean, what do you guys think of a filter change and top off every 3,000? Or maybe a full change every other interval with the filter/top off in between?
