I have a 1988 suburban that I have owned for about 18 months. It has a sears die hard gold battery in it, I have no idea how old the battery actually is.
I know that the previous owner did let the vehicle sit for extended periods. I drive it usually no more than once or twice a week and probably never let it sit for more than a few weeks.
I noticed that the battery "eye" is not showing green. As far as I know it never has since I have owned it - it may have but I never looked. Anyway it starts good and have never had trouble with it. The ammeter always shows a little to the right of the 13.
I do have a 6-amp Shumacher battery charger, but have no instructions for it. I am wondering how long should I charge the battery with this charger ??? How can I test the battery to see what it's condition actually is ??? Any other tips or advice ???
