My 98 Suburban LT 2500 4x4 7.4L 45k miles, "The Beast" has an elusive scraping or growling type noise when I turn left (worse than right) or right under a slight load condition say 15 to 25mph range. She is perfectly quiet above those speeds, or while going straight.
I have changed rotors, (an ugly job) pads, and both wheel bearings look and feel fine. The front axle half shafts C/V joints (no sign of leakage) also feel free and smooth when turning by hand. It almost sounds like a mud flap dragging or tire scraping but I see no evidence of this. Anyone been here before?
