: PeteL,
: Your right on the money. It is more of a front to back motion. As I look under the seat, it seems as though the track that the seat glides on is where the "thud" type noise is coming from. All bolts are tight to the floor. There seem to be no adjustment screws or bolts that I can see, just the rivets for the track (is this considered the riser?, the frame that the seat glides on I assume?) If a replacement is in order how much? I think I remember Dave said about $500 bucks!
: Thanks for the help

Riser Assembly 15975329 List price (one year ago) $378.35.
This was on my 95 Tahoe with the power seats, but I'm sure it's the same part.
Sources to beat that price:
Jeff Koop
Superior Chevy ( near KC)
800-728-8267
parts@superchevyperformance.com
Dal Slabaugh
Van Devere Olds (near Akron)
800-362-9494
lockitup@bright.net
Also my bud just mentioned Koop and Superior Chevy to his GM parts guy and they beat the price (if you include shipping).
Their are other sources out there, but I know these two to be reliable.
Fairly easy job. I took the whole seat out myself, put on the new riser and got in back in, in less than an hour. I do remember some tight bolts to get to that required a 90* nut driver. More time with a small open end would have done the same thing.
Some of the wiring under the seat has connectors that can be swapped by mistake. If you only take apart the leads that must be removed to remove the seat there is no problem. If you get it wrong it blows the fuse. Somebody had done this on mine and as a result had to leave the lumbar unpluged. I found this when I fixed the riser.
Sorry you got this also, good luck.
