There used to be an excellent study available on the 'net but the guy was forced through the threat of legal action to remove the most important part of the study, filtration efficiency.

FWIW, Consumers Reports stated in a test done a while back that FRAM makes the best filter because it doesn't filter out small particles and therefore doesn't clog and trigger the bypass as fast as the others. Really!
Ps. I use Mobil 1 filters precisely because they filter down to 10 microns; all the others tend to be > 25 microns.
