Have you checked to make sure your starter motor is disengaging? If the solenoid is keeping it on, it would explain RRRRRRRR noise (pinion in the ring gear) and discharged battery. Was battery still in truck when you tried to charge it? If so, charge current would immediately discharge through starter.
