This year I am going to buy a used popup camper, one of the big 17' and up sizes (there are 7 of us). I'm hoping to spend about 2.5K-3K so I can get one in decent shape. Can anyone offer any advice on what to avoid, bad makes, etc? Local RV dealers aren't much help as they will say anything to sell the ones on the lot. Is buying from a private owner better?
I have already installed a trailer hitch, trailer wiring, and a dual battery system on the Sub. The only things left are the transmission cooler and a trailer brake controller. I'm planning on installing the B&M plate-type cooler. The brake controllers seem to come in two types: inertial and time-based. I understand how each works, but subjectively, which is better? The cost seems to be similar.
