An example for the starter problem

Three times, means you have the 4th starter in there and I'd bet you'll have to replace again till the REAL problem is found.

Example: Suburbans (GM Trucks) have a known problem with the positive battery terminal connection (at least known to this board). The connection has been reported to have caused a few starters, alternators and even batteries to be replaced. I myself expect to have to replace the alternator because of this and is one of my early posts outlining my solution.

The battery connection has a lead slug between the two pos lugs and if the connection is every loosened, it will never make proper connection unless the lead spacer is replaced with a harder metal. That loose connect will corrode, cause the alternator to fail and cause the starter to fail. There was some threads on that cable also being lose at the starter too.

I personally think it's criminal for a mechanic to replace something like a start 3 times and not go looking for the root cause (assuming they didn't go looking and couldn't find, but they should have kept it or at least told you that there's another thing wrong).
