I own a 87' 3/4 ton sub. 5.7 liter 350/ 400t ...with winter coming on here in Va. ..I thought it a
good idea to check out and make sure four wheel drive working appropriately....well sitting on a
flat surface I engaged 4high and it stayed in place on shifter ...but after about 20 feet it slipped back
out . I then put it in 4 low and it held fine ..I repeated the shift into 4high and it held...I cannot figure
out why it is not always wanting to stay....(I repeated this quite a few times and had about a 50/50
split on staying and coming out)....I did this on grass on a completely flat surface...any thoughts
on the problem?...thanks
